Atlanta is home to professional sports franchises in all the four major sports, and hosts one of the most popular races on the NASCAR schedule. The Atlanta Braves are one of the most popular teams in Major League Baseball, and have played a beautiful Turner Field since 1992. The Atlanta Hawks have become one of the most consistently good franchises in the NBA, and routinely draw sell-out crowds to Philips Arena. The Atlanta Thrashers of the NHL also call Philips Arena home. In addition, Atlanta is set to host 2011 Wrestlemania. Lawrenceville, Augusta, and Athens Events

While the city of Atlanta is Georgia's primary source of Sporting Events, there are other great options in the state. The Gwinnett Braves, a minor league baseball team, play in nearby Lawrenceville in Coolray Field, and the Gwinnett Gladiators are a minor league hockey team who call Arena at Gwinnett Center their home ice. The most prestigious golf tournament on the PGA Tour, The Masters Tournament, is held annually in April at Augusta National Golf Club in Augusta, Georgia. The University of Georgia Bulldogs dominates the collegiate sports landscape, and is located in Athens, Georgia.
