With the recent changes in the front office around the Indiana Motor Speedway, this year’s race will especially be under the national limelight. Tony George has stepped down from all operations involving IMS. He has been replaced by Jeff Belskus. Belskus hopes for this year’s race to be improved from the controversy surrounding some of the recent races. His first executive move was to downsize the event schedule and cut the practice time for the drivers. Althought different from the past, the Indy 500 will still prove to be one of the greatest sporting events in the world.
Last year, ZZ Top will be headlining the Miller Lite Carb Day performance, which started at 3:30 PM. You don’t have to wait until then to enjoy the festivities, though, as most of Downtown Indianapolis comes alive with the sound of race engines.
