Seattle Mariners Baseball Tickets

If it weren't for the lowly Pittsburgh Pirates, the Seattle Mariners would have finished with the worst record in all of Major League Baseball in 2010. With only 61 wins and 101 losses, the Mariners missed the playoffs for the ninth straight season, losing more than 100 games for the second time in three years.

The offense was mostly to blame for their ineptitude, as the team scored the fewest runs in the league by a large margin. Jack Cust and Miguel Olivo were added during the offseason to help bolster the lineup, but strength of the Mariners will be their pitching staff. Headlined by Cy Young winner Felix Hernandez, Doug Fister and Jason Vargas are also expected to play major roles, as is a hopefully healthy Erik Bedard. If all live up to expectations, the team should be much improved in 2011.

Make sure to find all your Seattle Mariners Tickets at BroadRippleTickets.com. Seattle will try to rebound from a disappointing season. After trading Cliff Lee, the Mariners will look to plug in some key players from that deal. Justin Smoak will be a key hitter in the middle lineup for the Seattle. All the young players should make for an exciting year in Washington.

American League West

The American League West division is the only division Major League Baseball with only four teams. For much of the past decade, the Los Angeles Angels have been the dominant team, but that changed in 2010, as the Texas Rangers paced the division with a 90-72 record, and reaching the World Series for the first time in their history. In addition to only having four teams, the AL West is known for being a very pitcher friendly division, with Seattle's Safeco Park and Oakland's Oakland-Alameda County Coliseum ranking as the best pitcher's parks in MLB.

Though the Texas Rangers lost staff ace Cliff Lee to free agency, they are still considered the odd-on favorites to repeat as AL West division champs. They added sluggers Adrian Beltre and Mike Napoli in the offseason, further bolstering what was already one of the best offenses in the league, and ensuring they'll again be a force to be reckoned with in the AL West. Especially considering their home park, Rangers Ballpark in Arlington, is an extreme hitter's park. The Oakland Athletics finished 2010 an even 81-81, and they sport a roster built in opposite fashion from the Texas Rangers. The A's pitching staff, headlined by Trevor Cahill, Brett Anderson, and Gio Gonzalez, is the best in the division, and with offensive additions like David DeJesus, Josh Willingham, and Hideki Matsui, they should have enough firepower to give the Rangers a run for their money.

The Los Angeles Angels had won the AL West in five of the previous six seasons prior to last season, but a freak injury to their best offensive weapon, Kendrys Morales, left them in third place in 2010. Morales is back, and the All-Star pitcher Dan Haren begins his first full season with the team, giving the Angels a legitimate shot at returning to the top of the division. The Seattle Mariners brought up the rear last year, and sported a historically bad offense. Felix Hernandez did win the Cy Young award, and young fireballer Michael Pineda has Mariners fans extremely excited, but their success will hinge on the ability of Jack Cust, Miguel Olivo and Justin Smoak to consistently provide pop to the offense.

2011 American League

The 2011 Major League Baseball Season is underway, and as expected, the division races in the American League are proving to be incredibly tight and competitive. Generally regarded as the best division in MLB, the AL East is currently led by the New York Yankees, with the feisty Tampa Bay Rays in second. The biggest surprise is the Boston Red Sox, who got off to a 2-10 start, and are still fighting to get back to .500. Both the Toronto Blue Jays and Baltimore Orioles have been tougher than expected, proving that the AL East is indeed the best in baseball.

The AL Central is typically a wide-open division, and 2011 is no different. The Minnesota Twins have made the playoffs two consecutive years, but are in dead last this season, as the upstart Cleveland Indians find themselves in first place by nearly five games. Just as surprising have been the Kansas City Royals, who sit in second place in the division, while the Detroit Tigers and Chicago White Sox remain in contention. Out west, the Los Angeles Angels have been powered by an elite pitching staff, and have surprised people by jumping into first place in the AL West division. Last year's American League pennant winner the Texas Rangers have been excellent again this season, and look like a true contender for a World Series title. Rounding out the division are the Oakland Athletics and Seattle Mariners, both teams who have been better than originally expected.

2011 MLB

The 2011 Major League Baseball season is underway, and fans across the country, from Seattle to Miami, are hoping and praying that their season ends with a trip to the World Series. And with no obvious dominant team, there's still a chance their prayers are answered.

Nowhere is that optimism higher than in Boston, Massachusetts, where the Boston Red Sox look poised to return to the playoffs after adding a pair of big-name free agents in the offseason. They're not the only AL East team that thinks they'll be hoisting the trophy at the end of the season, though. Both the New York Yankees and Tampa Bay Rays are locked and loaded, and even the Toronto Blue Jays think 2011 might finally be their year. The Texas Rangers, under the guidance of Nolan Ryan, look to have an even more potent offense than last year, and everyone's favorite small-market team, the Minnesota Twins, have a deep, and most importantly, a healthy lineup.

Not to be outdone by their American League counterparts, the Philadelphia Phillies have assembled perhaps the greatest pitching rotation of all-time, but even that may not be enough to hold off the up-and-coming Braves in the NL East. Expectations are also very high in a pair of cities that haven't had a reason to be excited in a long time. Cincinnati, OH and Milwaukee, WI are home to the NL Central's Cincinnati Reds and Milwaukee Brewers, and both teams feel they have as complete a roster as any in the league. And who could forget the defending World Series champion San Francisco Giants. Powered by an elite pitching staff, and complementary offense, fans will be packing AT&T stadium on a nightly basis to see if their hometown boys can do the unthinkable and repeat in 2011.

No matter what team you root for, the 2011 MLB Season promises to be one of the most exciting and hard-fought years in recent Major League Baseball history!

May 2011 - American League Update

The Major League Baseball 2011 Season is more than a quarter of the way finished, and the playoff picture is beginning to take shape. In the American League, as everyone expected, the AL East division has been a Murderers Row for all five participants. The New York Yankees currently sit atop the division, with the Boston Red Sox, who began the season 2-11, sitting but a half game back. You can bet Yankees vs. Red Sox Tickets are going to yet again be the toughest MLB Ticket to come by this season. The Tampa Bay Rays have suffered a myriad of injuries, but still find themselves in third place in the division, only a game and a half behind the two behemoths in New York and Boston. The Toronto Blue Jays and Baltimore Orioles, long considered afterthoughts in the AL East are each only 3.5 games out of the lead, and have been much improved in 2011.

Over in the AL West division, last year's AL pennant winners, the Texas Rangers, again are out in front of the pack. They've been great at home in The Ballpark at Arlington, but have struggled on the road, and have a record barely above .500. As a result, the Los Angeles Angels and Seattle Mariners have been able to keep pace with the Rangers, while the Oakland Athletics are only three games out.

The biggest surprise of the 2011 MLB Season has been the Cleveland Indians, who possess baseball's best record at 30-17. They currently have a five-game lead in the AL Central division over the Detroit Tigers, with the Kansas City Royals and Chicago White Sox both struggling to keep pace. The Minnesota Twins, long the team to beat in the AL Central division, have been beset by misfortune, and already find themselves 14.5 games out of first place.

AL West June Update
The Texas Rangers won the AL West division in 2010, then went on to capture the American League pennant on their way to the World Series. They currently lead the AL West division again in 2011, and behind the hitting of Josh Hamilton, Nelson Cruz, and Michael Young have started to separate themselves from the rest of the pack. The Los Angeles Angels have played good baseball in June, and with arguably the best pitcher in baseball in Jered Weaver, they've climbed into second place, a few games behind the Rangers. Thanks to a dominant pitching staff, the Seattle Mariners have remained close, and now that top prospect Dustin Ackley has been implanted into the everyday lineup, the offense is starting to produce as well. The Oakland Athletics have suffered a myriad of injuries, and lost a bunch of ground during the month of June, but they are far from out it.

AL West July Update

Many fans figured that the Texas Rangers would run away with the AL West division, and while they do currently sit atop the standings, their lead is only a couple games, due to the Los Angeles Angels refusal to fall by the wayside. The Rangers made several impactful deals before the Trade Deadline, adding Koji Uehara and Mike Adams to bolster their bullpen, so they look primed for a strong stretch run. The Angels get by on the dominant pitching of Dan Haren and Jered Weaver, and a scrappy, run-oriented offense. Not many think they can continue to keep pace with the Rangers, but as they’ve proved all year, the Angels are not a team to ever be counted out. Battling for last place are the lowly Oakland Athletics and Seattle Mariners. Both teams have strong pitching staffs and anemic offenses, and neither figure to be a part of the AL West race at any point this season.
