Minus the Bear is an American rock band from Seattle, Washington. Founded in 2001, Minus the Bear is classified as an alternative indie rock group, which delves into experimental rock. The group features current and former members of Botch, Kill Sadie, and Sharks Keep Moving, and their sound has been described as "Pele-esque guitar-taps and electronics with sophisticated time signature composition."
Founding member Matt Bayles, a keyboardist and producer for the band, left the band in 2006 to focus exclusively on producing, and he replaced by Alex Rose, who previously worked as a sound engineer for the band. The name "Minus the Bear" comes from an in-joke among the band members, referring to the 70's television program, B. J. and the Bear.
In 2010 Minus the Bear signed with Dangerbird Records, who distributed their third studio album, Omni. They have since opened for Soundgarden in Chicago, and toured Europe with Jimmy Eat World. They will return to the US for a run of dates beginning November and running through Christmas, making Minus the Bear Tickets a perfect Christmas gift for fans of the band.
