Million Dollar Quartet is a musical is based on a real-life recording session that occurred in 1956 at the Sun Records studio in Memphis, Tennessee. The session featured legendary musicians Jerry Lee Lewis, Elvis Presley, Johnny Cash, and Carl Perkins, and is widely considered to be the impetus of future supergroups such as the Travelling Wilbury's and Crosby Stills, Nash & Young. Featuring classic country and R&B songs like "I Shall Not Be Moved" and "Don't Be Cruel," Million Dollar Quartet was first staged in 2007, and debuted on Broadway in 2010 to wild success, taking home Tony Awards for Best Musical, Best Book of a Musical, and Best Performance by a Featured Actor.
The show remains one of the most popular musicals currently running, and fans can still see nightly performances at the Apollo Theatre in Chicago, Illinois and on Broadway, at the Nederlander Theatre in New York City, New York. For those unable to make it one of those two cities, 2011 brings an opportunity to see the remarkable show live at your local Concert Venue, as a National Tour has been announced. Opening at Playhouse Square in Cleveland, Ohio in October, the Million Dollar Quartet will be traveling throughout the United States, likely playing sold-out shows in whatever city they appear. You'll have to act fast if you want to see one of the most historic recording sessions in the history of modern music reenacted by an All Star cast, so don't hesitate -- purchase Million Dollar Quarter Tickets today!
