Furthur is led by the former Grateful Dead members Bob Weir and Phil Lesh and also includes, Jeff Chimenti, John Kadlecik, Joe Russo, Sunshine Becker, and Jeff Pehrson. Furthur has released 5 studio albums whose musical styles range from Indie Rock to sixties/seventies influenced rock. Although Furthur hasn’t releasd a new album since their 1996, Next Time West Coast, the band keeps fans hooked with live albums and touring. Named for the psychedelic school bus that Ken Kesey and his Merry Pranksters traveled across the country in during the 1960s, Furthur the band is supergroup formed in 2009 by former Grateful Dead members Phil Lesh and Bob Weir. Weir and Lesh are joined by guitarist John Kadlecik (Dark Star Orchestra), keyboardist Jeff Chimenti (RatDog), and drummer Joe Russo (Benevento/Russo Duo), and frequently feature special guests at their live performances. Strictly a touring band, Furthur hit the festival circuit in the summer of 2010, performing at the Nateva Music & Camping Festival in Oxford, Maine, as well as the All Good Music Festival and the Gathering of The Vibes. They also hosted the Furthur Festival in California. The band has continued touring together, announcing an extensive collection of shows across the U.S. in 2010 and into 2011.
