Joel Thomas Zimmerman, better known by his stage name Deadmau5 (pronounced "dead mouse"), is a Canadian progressive house and electro house producer based in Toronto, Ontario. His debut album was released in 2006, and he has grown in popularity exponentially with each subsequent album release. In 2009, DJ Magazine announced the results of their annual Top 100 DJ Poll, placing deadmau5 at number six, a jump from number eleven the previous year. Along with his own extensive collection of solo work, deadmau5 is recognized for his collaborations with numerous other DJs and producers such as Kaskade, MC Flipside, Rob Swire of Pendulum, and Steve Duda.
Deadmau5 was nominated for a Grammy in 2009 for his remix of the tract "The Longest Road," and he won a Juno Award for Dance Recording of the Year in 2010 for his album For Lack of a Better Name. With all the success, Deadmau5 has headlined many recent festivals including the Dance Arena at the Oxegen Festival, as well as LovEvolution in San Francisco, California.
