Taylor Swift Announces New Album

Singer-songwriter, Taylor Swift, is at it again! The all-American sweetheart is releasing her fourth studio album, Red, scheduled for October 22, 2012. The lead producer of Red is Nathan Chapman, along with a variety of other producers. Nathan Chapman is most known for having worked with Swift on two of her previous beloved albums, Fearless and Speak Now.  Unlike previous album, such as Speak Now, in which Swift wrote every song on her own, Red is said to have many co-writers from all different places in music, including Butch Walker and Mark Foster, offering the album a bit of a twist.

Swift successfully amped up her loyal fans for the new album by releasing Red’s lead single “We Are Never Ever Getting Back Together” in August. Swift collaborated with Swedish super-producer Max Martin, who co-wrote and produced “Never” to take her music in a different and remarkable direction.  This new side of Swift has been a predominantly welcome one, with the song described as a retrospective, reflective, pop wonder. While fans enjoy the joyous, smart, and catchy tune, some critics find the song to be a bit soulless compared to her others and even a bit more juvenile, although it is undeniably enjoyable.

The single rapidly rose to No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart, becoming Swift’s first song to make it to No. 1.  Serving as an inspiration to her fans, Swift made music history, breaking the record for the fastest song to reach number one in iTunes in only 45 short minutes, as well as the highest number of digital sales in week for a female artist, reaching a whopping 623,000 sales.

2012-13 NFL Season is Ready to Begin!

The smell of fresh cut grass means only one thing to many fans across the country…Training Camp.  NFL teams all around the league have taken to their respective fields to begin the process of a new season.  Storylines will be popping up all over the place as players get settled into camp.  New and old faces will fight it out for a spot on each team’s roster.

The biggest story from the past offseason would easily be the arrival of Peyton Manning in Denver.  Manning will try to follow the massive footsteps of John Elway, as expectations have been set extremely high.  Meanwhile, Manning’s departure left a Hall-of-Fame size hole in Indianapolis.  Many notable franchises have failed to find a suitable replacement for their larger than life quarterbacks, but Indianapolis has Luck on their side.  Andrew Luck has become the savior for the fans in Indy, but only time will tell how the young QB can stack up to his predecessor.

The fallout from Manning arriving in Denver landed in New York.  Tim Tebow was moved to the Jets after Manning became the play caller from the Broncos.  The talk of quarterback controversy has been never ending since Tebow’s plane landed in the Big Apple.  Sanchez and Tebow have shaken it off for the most part, but training camp always brings out the best and worst of potentially explosive situations.

Another Dream Team proclamation has been the talk in Philadelphia.  Michael Vick and the Eagles have once again pronounced themselves the best of the best in the offseason.  Vick and company have some comfort knowing LeSean McCoy has been locked up for the long-term in Philly.  The Eagles are just part of the drama that is known as the NFC East.  The Giants will try to repeat as Super Bowl champions in New Orleans, while Dallas will look to regain some notoriety as a winning team.  Not to mention, the biggest story in the division resides with Washington.  Will RGIII live up to the hype?  Is he an NFL capable quarterback?  Can he possibly be worse than Rex Grossman? Ok, well at least we know the answer to one of the questions surrounding training camp….
